Join our research and development team as a Food Technologist based in Battle Creek, Michigan!  We want your expertise to manage medium to large projects to invent from ideation through scale-up new products, value transformation savings, improve product quality, and capacity in our North American operations. Engage with us as you impact our success as a technical resource to various functions within the company and provide high-impact support to project teams. Innovate with us as you develop and refine food process technology from idea generation through proof of concept to commercialization.

 

As you assume the role of technical project leader, technical problem solver, and innovator you will use your seasoned experience and team up with cross-functional partners to provide timely and cost-effective innovation and renovation to drive growth.

 

This is a Hybrid role that requires the incumbent to live within sixty miles of the Battle Creek Michigan Headquarter office. This job sometimes involves extended work schedules and time commitments and changing priorities. Incumbent must be able to deal with some stress and facilitate sound decision making. Tavel (up to 50%) to manufacturing sites.

  • Drive Business Growth - Creating and coordinating key projects while giving general direction to assigned teams in accomplishing projects on the technical and scientific investigation or developments.
  • Leadership - Demonstrating personal capabilities as a Project Manager, Planner, Coordinator, Communicator, Engineer, and Technical Expert within the department, while giving general direction to assigned cross-functional teams in accomplishing projects on the scientific and technical investigation or developments.
  • What's Trending? - an innovative mindset in discovery, advancement, and evaluation of new technologies in food/process research and development, and have a significant impact on new products, improved products, and increased efficiency on cereal processes.
  • Innovation/Creativity - to provide innovative, timely, and cost-effective improvements, concepts, developments, or scientific insight and understanding with respect to new or existing products or processes.
  • Technical Expertise - Use your leadership and expertise within the department as an expert in a specific discipline who keeps current with the latest developments and technology through investigation, training, and communication within that discipline.

 

 

YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

 

Required:

  • Owner's mindset and entrepreneurial spirit!
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering or science related field with strong relevant industry experience of 5+ years.
  • Proven track record of leadership, business acumen, communication skills, and diplomacy.
  • Effective execution and ownership of projects and ability to operate with minimal supervision on Food Technology required capabilities.
  • Project Management experience to manage medium complexity sustaining projects (product relocations, flavor extensions, renovations).

 

Bonus Points:

 

  • Your experience in processing equipment, ingredients, flavors, emerging technologies development, or commercial scaleup in food industries will be an asset here!
  • MSc in Chemical/Process Engineering or related disciplines with relevant work experience in a related role.
  • Ability to provide technical expertise on a portfolio of complex projects.
