Advance your career as a Sr Manger of Category Strategy for the cereal category. As a Sr Manger you will lead strategic initiatives for our portfolio across retail channels, with a focus on distribution and shelving specific to Cereal. This role is a people manager role and will support our portfolio of Balanced brands, Granola and Natural & Organic segments.

 

This is a remote position that requires the person to be in our Battle Creek Michigan Headquarter office one consecutive Tuesday/Wednesday each month.  Affiliated commuting expenses will be reimbursed.

 

Must be able to use effective verbal and written communication skills on a daily basis.

 

Must have the ability to work in conditions that include multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, extended work schedules, and specific time constraints. 

 

Ability to lead, align, manage, resolve conflict, and work in an ever-changing environment.

Expected travel (25 percent) of the time.

•  Reports to the Sr. Director Category Strategy.

 

HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

 

  • Category Initiatives: This position is responsible for creating and commercializing category strategy initiatives which will help drive Category growth. This position works closely with Kellogg’s Category Management teams to test category/brand strategies at both customer level and national level and commercializes resulting best practices. This role shares key insights and supports field peers as they prep for Joint Business Planning at priority customers.
  • Business Analytics: Knowing the business and understanding key drivers is imperative to delivering Strong Category Management insights. Analyzing varied sources of data and proactively uncovering opportunities that will impact Cereal Category will be key to your success. From your findings, you will develop and deploy fact based selling tools and presentations, and recommend size strategy across different channels etc.
  • Liaison between Field teams and HQ: A crucial part of this role is to develop strong working partnerships cross-functionally with Marketing, Insights & Analytics, Commercial Strategy and Innovation teams. You will be the voice of Field Based Category Management teams at the HQ and represent their feedback and needs to broad internal teams. You will also be responsible for deploying Kellogg’s Category Strategies to field based Category Management through articulation of key priorities and strategies.
  • Strategic Partnerships: You will develop partnership with vendors to create learning agenda and test new ideas to grow the category including optimal aisle flow, shelving best practices, new eating occasions etc.
  • Customer Interaction: This position will involve a high degree of internal and external customer interaction. As a trusted business consultant, you/your team will help guide objective category reviews that strive to achieve mutually beneficial sales and market share goals for our Grocery, Mass, Drug and Dollar Teams.
  • Optimal Shelving - In this position, you lead, test and drive Shelving Principles for Cereal. You will work closely with virtual shelf partners and conduct in-store tests to recommend optimal shelving principles for different channels – which will include Gold Standard planograms, future aisle vision ideas and shelving principles.
  • Project Management – You will need to be exceptional at project management, as you will manage multiple large projects and work closely with both internal and external partners. You will lead process with cross-functional teams to optimize our portfolio and align on upcoming deletes prior to the Customer Business Plan Roll-out.

 

YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods focused on Category Management.
  • Retail facing role in sales or category management at Convenience channels a plus!
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office application with advanced expertise in Excel.
  • Proficiency in JDA, Apollo, or Spaceman space planning software.
  • Assimilating and interpreting data from multiple disparate data sources into concise, action-oriented recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong understanding of Nielsen/Cortana/NPD data for insights and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, presentation, coaching,  and time management skills.

Compensation Insights:

Salary Range: $140,400.00 -$184,400.00

Position is bonus eligible
