 As the Retail Sales Manager for  the  territories covering Victoria to Manitoba  with Edmonton or Calgary being the preferred  home office location, you will represent WK Kellogg Co and be  responsible for the leadership, development and management of a portion  of the retail field sales team, as well as their second-tier direct customers to achieve WKKellogg  sales and budget objectives.  Responsible for creating the  priorities and execution plan for  the retail field sales team against the WKKellogg corporate, customer and banner priorities.

 

 

Working Relationships:

 

  • Report to the Director of Sales – Channels .
  • Supervise Field Sales Representatives – may supervise team of 8+.
  • Work with fellow Retail Sales Managers, Account Executives, Sales Strategy, Finance, Marketing and Customer Service.

 

 

HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

 

  • Deliver objectives and targets for net sales, market share, display metrics and AMPS.
  • Bi -Annual review of territory customers performance and frequency of visits, establishment of  metrics/sales targets for displays, bookings, and spending.
  • Lead, train, coach, motivate and manage the Retail Field Sales team to achieve sales targets.
  • Coach the sales force on WKKC strategies and selling techniques.
  • Provide guidance/direction to the Retail Team to address issues and opportunities in the market and by customer.
  • Track, Monitor, Report retail team sales performance.
  • Responsible for hiring and training new sales representatives.
  • Work with the Sales Director and develop regional business plans and metrics  including performance management, career and succession planning. People management includes the establishment of annual business and personal development plans and goals that are measurable. 
  • Develop and communicate a focused retail channel  strategy for the retail team and execute to drive volume and profitable sales.
  • Manage the development of KCI growth within the market including execution of corporate strategies and initiatives as well as launch of new products. 
  • Monitor all retail activity via SmartCall – Sales,   booking results, coverage, retail investment, displays and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Communicate internally  any major issues, opportunities, competitive activity and business developments as they occur.

 

 

YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

REQUIRED:

 

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience in Retail Packaged Goods with specific experience in direct selling,  key account management, and/or cross functional sales roles including sales strategy and category management. 
  • Demonstrated experience training and developing a team of field sales representatives.
  • Post secondary education or work experience equivalent – Business Diploma or Degree preferred.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical, financial, organizational, presentation, interpersonal, coaching and time management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer skills and applications.
  • Valid Driver’s license within Canada.
  • Bilingualism is an asset, French and English.

 

Work Environment / Additional Information:

 

  • Due to large geographical make up of retail territories of direct reports, must be willing to travel and spend  up to 8+ overnights per month.
  • Ability to work with internal and external partners/customers.  Cross-functional partnering will be required.
  • Ability to work in conditions that include multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, extended work schedules and time constraints.
  • Ability to manage, lead and resolve issues in a diverse environment.
