As a Manufacturing Systems Engineer, we’re hoping you can take a new angle on what otherwise might be ordinary. As a leader, you will be responsible for technical leadership and engineering oversight for all things related to power, control, and OT (Operational Technology) systems at the site. Through automation and digitalization, this role is key to unlocking cost saving and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvements across the facility.
Based in Battle Creek, MI manufacturing facility, you’ll be helping in the creation of continuous improvement initiatives that engage the teams, while focusing on leadership, safety, quality, and overall methods and performance. HERE'S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Tools for Success - Deploying strategic methodologies, systems, and tools, such as Autonomous Maintenance, Reliability Maintenance, Problem Solving, Process Mapping, etc. to deliver site OEE and cost savings goals.
- Includes the Understanding of:
- Programmable Logic Controllers, Ladder Logic, and Human-Machine Interfaces.
- Complex process control systems and highly automated, servo driven packaging equipment.
- Safety systems including Lockout/Tagout, Risk assessment, and safety controllers.
- Managing and deployment of OT systems including networking and servers.
- Understand and support the RMP Safety and Environmental systems.
- Includes the Understanding of:
- Drive Change - Enabling capability for others to function within the plant environment, as well as driving and supporting cost ideations and diagnostics, along with tracking and communicating projects for visibility between other plant functions and teams.
- Continuous Improvement - Integrating system health and project monitoring into the current structure to ensure the sustainability of improvements. Use digitalization to empower stakeholders with data-based decision making.
- Strategize to Win - Continually collaborating with hourly personnel and supervisors to identify and troubleshoot chronic and sporadic losses through data analysis. Own the technical masterplans and standards for Power, Control, and Operational Technology, to ensure a competitive advantage.
- Impact Results - Utilizing systems and tools to deliver a reduction in minor stops and breakdowns. Ensure technical process stabilization and control.
- Empower Efficiency – Transform manufacturing capabilities working with frontline personnel to identify and implement appropriate CL's and CIL's. Conducting health checks on programs and systems to ensure they are meeting KWS standards of excellence. Drive standardization in projects and systems across the facility.
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
- Associates of Science Degree (Or 10 years equivalent experience) in electrical engineering/technical or other related field with significant experience with plant systems, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in one of the following HMI platforms: FactoryTalk SE or Wonderware Intouch
- Proficiency in Rockwell PLC platforms (ControlLogix and PLC5)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization & influence others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to troubleshoot plant controls systems and assist the hourly technicians in troubleshooting and maintaining plant controls systems.
- Demonstrated ability to plan work and manage priorities, manage complexity & utilize your problem-solving/analytical skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization.
Salary Range: $111,200 - $152,900
